Is Schloss Malberg a hotel?

No. Schloss Malberg is a historic castle residence. Our Chateau Suites offer a private suite experience, combining the comfort of a luxury apartment with the atmosphere of a historic chateau.

Where is Schloss Malberg located?

Schloss Malberg is located in the Eifel region of Germany, a quiet and scenic area known for nature, rolling hills and cultural heritage. Our region has easy access to Trier and Luxembourg.

How many suites are available?

Currently, Chateau Suites offer two exclusive suites: Marie-Therèse and Ernestine, each inspired by a strong woman from the castle's history.

Who were Marie-Therèse and Ernestine?

Baroness Marie-Therèse Josephe de la Neufforge was strong-willed and practical with an unusual business sense for a woman of her time. When her husband inherited Malberg castle from his great uncle, he lacked the assets to complete and maintain the castle. The discovery of iron ore in a nearby village, part of the dominion, led her to found the Malberg iron mill as a joint venture with her husband and contributed assets and technical knowlege of her family to support the enterprise.

She still found time to oversee the completion of the castle, adding the summer terrace and building the round gardens and gave birth to 14 children.

Ernestine von Veyder-Malberg - Marie-Therèse's great granddaughter, understood that times had changed after the French revolution, losing all privileges, peasant rents and income sources. Her brother, the heir of the castle was childless and so she decided to take fate into her own hands, gave up her title of nobility and married Gerhard Schmitz, chief forester of the new Prussian administration and thanks to his income and several business activities like a distillery, hop growing and slate mining they kept the castle afloat which from this point changed into bourgeois hands.

These unusual women represent elegance, strength and independence - values reflected in the design and atmosphere of each suite.
